You ARE Beautiful

Ugh! I hate my nose, my legs, my arms!” “I’m too fat/skinny” ” I’m so stupid!” “No one likes me!” “I’m not talented enough!” “I can’t do that”

We’ve all done it. Picked ourselves apart one by one, some of us do it until we start crying, wishing we had something we don’t. Me? I think my nose is too wide, my eyebrows look funny, and I sometimes worry about the small chicken pox scars on my forehead.

Have you ever seen that girl at school that has amazing hair, eyes, etc. and wished “Why can’t I be like that?”

But…have you ever thought “Wow, I’m pretty good at art/sports/dancing etc.” “My eyes are a really cool colour” or “I get pretty good grades in school” ?

If the answer is no, then you should take another look in that mirror and see the beautiful person who had their beauty judged in a way it shouldn’t have. Are you kind to others? Help those in need? Enjoy life and spending time with friends and family? That is what a person’s beauty should be judged on. The beauty inside.

My friend has accepted herself for who she is and how she looks and I admire her for that. She has let her true inner beauty shine for others to see and that’s the way it should be.

So, if you are ever in front of that  mirror or see a girl who seems “perfect” stop, take a deep breath and whisper to yourself  “I am beautiful” because it’s true. We are all beautiful in our own and special way.
