Prom, Take Two!

It’s that time of year again, Prom Season! Prom is all about celebrating the end of high school, reminiscing about times shared with friends, and getting excited about the start of the next stage in your life.  My prom last year was amazing, but I did learn a few things.  This year a childhood friend asked me to go to his prom, so with last year’s experience I know what to do and what not to do.  In the next few weeks I’ll post a series of blogs with tips about picking the right dress, hairstyles, makeup, shoes, and everything to do with prom.
To start the series, the rest of this post will be about my prom.  I started looking for my dress in December, I found a cute, sexy red dress that complimented my figure and fit the occassion.  I love animal prints, so snakeskin sling backs were my shoes of choice.  In grade 12 I was obsessed with the 1950’s glamour, it was the influence for my hairstyle and makeup.
Prom day was very hectic.  Waking up bright and early to make my 9:00 am hair appointment, followed by makeup, a hurried stop at the mall to pick up last minute accessories, then to the caterer to pick up the food for the guests that were to arrive at my home at 3:00.  I invited my closest friends to my home for a pre-prom get together for pictures and hors d’oeuvres.  It was great to have everyone over with their families.  This part of prom day was almost as much fun as the prom.  I didn’t have a date for the prom, my boyfriend didn’t attend my school so I thought it would be fun to go with my girlfriends instead.  He did dress up and attend thepre-prom get together at my home – a nice compromise.
My friends and I rented a limousine to take us to the prom, the ride was glamorous.  We took an obscene amount of pictures and danced all night.  Prom was so much fun, but looking back there are a couple of things I would change.  I hope by reading the series on prom, you can gather some tips so that you will have an enjoyable and memorable time.
