Kiss 92.5 Wham Bam 2012: The Wanted Leave Fans Wanting More

So what do you get when you get 1 Canadian, 6 Brits, 1 Irishman and 4 Americans together in one place?… No, not a meeting with The United Nations but the line-up for Kiss 92.5’s Wham Bam 2012! Thursday night “the concert of the summer” hit the stage at The Molson Canadian Amphitheater with a stellar line-up with some of the biggest names in music; Carly Rae Jepsen, Owl City, The Ready Set, Karmin, B.O.B, Cher Lloyd, Connor Maynard and The Wanted.

As I walked onto the muddy lawn at The Molson Canadian Amphitheater, I was pretty bummed at arriving 2 acts late, missing Cher Lloyd and The Ready Set, but luckily I was just in-time to catch Owl City strip it down to put on an amazing, completely acoustic set.  Then came Connor Maynard, who I like to call the “British Beiber”, that kid’s got some talent! Along with Karmin, B.O.B and Carly Rae-all  putting on amazing sets, but I have to admit, at 22 years old, I had a bit of a fan-girl moment when The Wanted hit the stage. I don’t know what I was expecting to get from a performance from The Wanted, but I was definitely impressed with it not coming across as the typical “boy-band” performance, meaning it was nothing like the boy-bands I grew up watching. The guys didn’t cut out all the tricks from the “boy-band handbook”, although they did treat  5 lucky girls from the audience up on stage to a sing-along/serenade of “Heart Vacancy.” At one point they even strapped on guitars and tickled the ivories to a medley of Coldplay songs of “Viva la Vida”, “Paradise”, “Every Teardrop” and my personal favourite, “Fix You”. Giving the fans what they wanted, the five lads sang their biggest hits including, “Glad You Came”, “Chasing the Sun” and “Gold Forever”. Impressed with what they did in that limited time, I can’t wait to see what they can do with a FULL set.
