Chocolate Covered Pretzel Recipe

By Kat Wong Too Yen

Want a quick and creative gift idea? Chocolate covered pretzels make a tasty and affordable gift for your friends and family.  This recipe for chocolate covered pretzels is so easy that any Vervegirl can do it! There’s no need for measuring cups or complicated kitchen timers to make this decadent snack at home or in your residence dorm. Once you’ve finished making the perfect pretzel, wrap them up in some clear cellophane and tie it with a pretty ribbon to give to your friends and family–or save them for yourself!

What you’ll need:

A large bar of your favourite chocolate
Bag of mini-pretzels
Baking sheet covered in wax paper

Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in them in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the chocolate for 2-3 minutes and stir until smooth. If the chocolate hasn’t completely melted, put it back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Use a fork and dunk each pretzel in the chocolate and carefully place them on wax paper. Refrigerate the pretzels for about 30 minutes before removing from the wax paper.

TIP: If the chocolate looks too thick to dip the pretzels in, gradually mix in a bit of butter for a creamier texture

Melt another batch of colour-contrasting chocolate (i.e. white and dark chocolate). Dip a fork into the colour-contrasting chocolate and lightly drizzle over your chocolate covered pretzels before placing them in the fridge to get a cool stripe design! Other ideas include sprinkling on crushed almonds or walnuts, cookie crumbs, or colourful sprinkles. There are so many delicious possibilities when making chocolate covered pretzels!  Enjoy!
