This Saturday, June 20th, run, walk, parade, skip, traipse - whatever - in
Chip's Not Dead Yet Memorial Mile. With proceeds in support of
BC Children's Hospital, the event is the baby of Chip Wilson, founder of
Lululemon. For every dollar raised from registration and sponsorship, Chip will match it up to $150,000.
Prepare for a one mile, uphill jaunt on West 10th Avenue between Alma and Blanca. Why uphill? To symbolize the uphill battle kids in hospital face everyday.
To keep the event a light-hearted, celebration of life, there are different themed waves (beginning at 3pm) where you can dress up, wig-out and maximize the fun potential. We debated the
High School Dash,
Rock Star Wave, and the
Canucks Fan Parade, but eventually fell for the
High Heel Dash where one lucky, heeled gal will take home a $1500 gift card to Pacific Centre. We can't say no to shopping.
Make sure to allot some time for the after-party, including food, drinks, performances and a street beer garden.
Register online (before midnight July 19th) or in-person at Lululemon (tonight and Wednesday from 5-7pm; 2113 West 4th Ave in Kitsilano) or on event day. Cost is $35 and includes a Lululemon tech top. Smokin' deal for a good cause.
