Me to We Music
is an innovative label whose goal is to work with musicians who use their talent to make positive changes in the world. Their first signing was singer-songwriter Louise Kent and on her debut album The Small Things, she wastes no time in letting listeners know how she feels.

The first few lines on the disc are “Twinkle, twinkle little star what do I do / The world’s a disaster the worst has come true.” Through heart-wrenching storytelling, Louise talks about hungry children, war and the imbalance between the powerful and the needy. Though the topics are heavy, to say the least, Louise never gives us the feeling that the issues are hopeless.

She encourages people to become involved, without coming across as preachy, but rather empowered. She even speaks about the struggles of being politically and socially aware in a society that can be selfish and can view positive action in a negative light. “ The power of choice gives the power of voice,” Louise sings with sincerity.

Earth Hour Toronto, 2008
Last year, Sydney Australia blazed an eco-trail by encouraging people to turn out their lights for just one hour, on March 31. More than million people and 2,100 business tuned in and turned off for an amazing result: in just one hour, the city’s energy consumption was cut by more than 10 per cent (which would be like taking 48,000 cars off the road for a year!). This year, it’s a world-wide thing (in 20 cities across six continents), with Toronto leading the way in Canada. So on March 29, at 8 p.m., join millions of people and turn your lights off for one hour. Easy peasy. (Bonus: everyone looks gorgeous by candlelight!)
