We were already sold on attending the Oncampus Virtual Fair on October 22. A travel-free way to check out university information booths, get answers from school reps and check out on-campus-life? Count us in!
But then we heard that Scott Dobson-Mitchell will be one of the speakers, with a presentation titled: "How is the first year of university different from the last year of high school? One student's experience." So the already ALL CAPS and bold event in our calendar now has two red underlines, too.
We first found out about Scott last year when we stumbled across one of his blogs for
Maclean's magazine, called "Scott's Decision Time." His stories about preparing for university (appyling for a loan, choosing a school, selecting a program) were funny and seriously informative.
But Scott's no newbie to the writing game: He had his own column in his local Kitchener, Ont. newspaper from age 12 right through to the end of high school.
