1. Supernatural Sleeky Shine

This look is one of the most wanted of the season. It’s all about looking effortless. And for that added touch of wave, wrap large sections of hair around a thick curling iron after straightening.

Kerry’s tips: Use a serum to protect hair while drying, (like Frizz-Ease Extra Strength Hair Serum formula) that will protect hair from heat styling damage and prevent fly-aways. Use a large paddle brush to dry hair straight. If you have curly hair, you’ll have to use a flatiron after you dry your hair with a paddle brush. Use the flatiron beginning an inch away from your scalp, since you still want to maintain volume at the roots. Once hair is dry, pull back and run gel through the crown area to smooth fly-aways. Apply hair spray on hands and then run hands through crown. Run a brush through hair and voilá! Beautiful straight hair that still has body.

Also try: Dove Smooth & Soft anti-frizz cream, Redken ultra-straight balm, Alberto Heat Defence straightening serum and Redken’s Framework workable finishing spray.

2. Tousled Tendrils

Lightly tousled hair looks amazing for day and nighttime parties. It’s extremely pretty, natural- looking and easy to maintain during summer heat waves.

Kerry’s tips: Blow dry hair until 70 per cent dry. Apply a styler that creates volume and texture like Frizz-Ease Corrective Styling Mousse Curl Reviver. Then take 2-inch pieces of hair and wrap around two fingers and secure with bobby pins. This method of creating sexy loose curls is called “pin curls.” Either let hair air dry or use your blow dryer to speed up the process. Once hair is set, remove pins and apply a finishing cream to hands and rub it through the curls to loosen and make them messy-looking. Hair will be shiny and curls will have style.

3. Bouncy, balmy curls

Texture and flirty curls are the hottest trends going strong this season. The summer curl gets an added twist becoming rounder and curlier with a moist look and feel.

Kerry’s Tip for Girls with Straight Hair: Apply stylers that will create volume and texture. Spray and “roughly” dry your hair (use your fingers and move hair near scalp from side to side to create volume). Stop drying hair when it is 70 per cent dry and slightly damp. Apply a curl-defining styler like John Frieda’s Dream Curls and take 2-inch pieces of hair and wrap around small Velcro rollers. Air-dry hair while you are dressing/putting your makeup on, or use your blow dryer. Once hair is set, remove Velcro rollers and apply a finishing cream so that hair is shiny and curls have definition.

Kerry’s Tip for Girls with Curly Hair: Apply frizz serum when hair is soaking wet and use a diffuser to dry hair. Do not scrunch too much, as it will create frizz. Position the diffuser at the bottom of hair. Let hair sit in diffuser head and lift it while drying. Once hair is dry, use a large curling iron to define a couple curls at the crown to create depth and dimension.

Also try: L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art volumising mousse, philosophy Curly Head silicone hair serum, Garnier Fructis Style Spiral Effect Psshht Gel and Redken Spray Starch heat memory styler.

4. Chignons and Bohemian Braids

Tousle your hair as mentioned before. Braid your hair along the brow line and pin to the side. Or, get more creative and braid a few sections and simply pin back. For classic chignon twists, Warn suggests it be worn high on the crown of your head and decorated

with antique combs, flowers or pretty brooches—which are all the rage at the moment—at the base or off to the side of the chignon.

Kerry’s Tips: Apply a very small amount of gel in your hands and pull hair back into a ponytail. Use the gel to smooth down any fly-aways.  The easiest way to set hair in a chignon is to tie it in a high ponytail and secure with elastic. Grab hair and twist around finger and the base of the ponytail to create a doughnut shape. Think about a watch and secure hair nest at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 positions with bobby pins. Use hairspray to secure ends and insert a decorative pin or flower to finish the look.

Try: Dove Extra Hold Hairspray, Garnier Fructis Style long lasting hold quick dry strong spray.
