Step 1: Create a center part and apply a volume cream throughout wet hair. Kérastase Crème d’Huile Oléo-Curl dedicated to thick hair, $40.

Step 2: Spray hair with a salt-infused styling spray to add a beachy texture. Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, $26.75.

Step 3: Let hair air dry for 15 minutes. Then diffuse your hair —bending forward, backwards and sideways (hold each section for several minutes). This allows roots to dry in all directions.

TIP: To reduce frizz, dry on medium speed and heat.

Step 4: Using a large barrel curling iron, take random sections of your hair and curl 3/4 of the way up.

Step 5: Break up curls with your fingers and respritz with beach spray.  If you’re experiencing frizz, use a dime size amount of smoothing serum (too much will weigh your hair down and leave it looking oily), Neutrogena Triple Moisture Smooth Shine Anti-Frizz Cream, $9.99
