Grateful Head Salon

Our BFWCH (Best Friend With Curly Hair) recently sent us to Grateful Head (1006 Dundas St. W.) for a much-needed appointment with hair expert Lysa Fina. She’s got a rep around town for helping those with waves and curls do something – anything! – with them.
Our BFWCH (Best Friend With Curly Hair) recently sent us to Grateful Head (1006 Dundas St. W.) for a much-needed appointment with hair expert Lysa Fina. She’s got a rep around town for helping those with waves and curls do something – anything! – with them. Good call, BFWCH. Her expert wielding of scissors resulted in the first haircut we’ve truly loved since, maybe, 1997.

Also loved: the salon itself, which is a haven for the neighbourhood’s artists. Staff members (almost all of whom are musicians) jam in the shop’s basement space and Lysa herself has made several CDs. For those more into visual art, the salon’s walls are decked with an always-changing collection of art for sale, made by locals as well.

Bonus: Take your fabulous new ‘do to a free outdoor screening, tonight, of Romeo +Juliet (the one starring Leo Dicaprio and Claire Danes), from 9 to 11 p.m. at Yonge & Dundas Square.
