All these styles have a slightly undone look,  and execution is not so precise—which means you really can pull if off at home! Many have both straight and textured sections in one style. Andrea Claire
Walmsley, Hair Consultant for L’Oréal Paris Fall 2006 Toronto Fashion Week, breaks down a few of the top international runway hair trends.

1 TREND: LONG, TEXTURED HAIR
These styles have volume and combine straight and wavy textures. For the runways, hairstylists added
extensions to models’ hair to build volume and extra long lengths.
Recreate the look:  “Most of the texture starts at the tips of the ear,” says Walmsley. Blow-dry using a working (light hold) spray or mousse to give hair flexible hold and body. For the look à la Mackage, randomly grab various size sections, curl with a medium barrel curling iron, shake and go.

2 TREND: THE SWEET SWOOP
“Hair swept to the side of the face is softer, flattering
and easier to wear than a center part—which can look rather stark,” says Walmsley. “A deep, side-swept part and slanted bangs add a bit of peek-a-boo allure without being too obvious.”
Recreate the look:  Apply a flexible holding spray, blow-dry and flat-iron the crown. Create a deep-side part towards the crown. To keep hair lying flat across the forehead, use a pomade or serum to help hold the direction.
vervegirl Recommends: L’Oréal Paris Out of Bed Pomade, Pantene Classic Hairspray, KQC X-Heat Ceramic Styling Iron, Sunsilk Anti-Poof 24/7 Crème.

3 TREND: UP, UP AND AWAY
Plaits are loaded with schoolgirl charm and, as L’Oréal’s Walmsley points out, “Both buns and ponytails can do so much for a simple outfit whether the look is casual or dressed-up. There’s a bit of texture to the hair, so don’t worry about fly-aways.”
Recreate the look: “Rake hair back with fingers to preserve the texture. Use covered elastics and bobby pins to secure hair. For the ponytail, just flat-iron the tail for a contrasting texture. As far as the bun, you’ll need to twist and tease with your fingers to create an uneven texture, then pin into place. Don’t try to be too perfect!” She adds, “A plait off to the side can be achieved with your own hair or a false clip-on plait.”
vervegirl Recommends: Goody covered elastic bands.
