Some designers introduced a fresh crop of bright palettes for spring, while some returned to the classics. Makeup artists Sheri Stroh and Sabrina Rinaldi from Judi Inc. give you professional tips on how to get these looks for prom.

This season, eyes and lips were popping with vibrant colour—pink being one of the hottest trends. Makeup artist Sheri Stroh says this look isn’t hard to achieve as long as you keep it simple. “Just a sheer wash of colour such as lavender, sky blue or mint green are great for this particular look as long as they aren’t applied too heavy.”
HOW TO:
- Start sweeping the shadow across the eyelid right at the base of the lashes and up into the crease. Finish up by blending with a brush upwards away from the eye so the colour diffuses.
- Curl lashes and apply a coat or two of mascara.
- Keep cheek color very simple with just a light soft pink (natural) blush.
- For the perfect pink pout, Stroh says gloss is always a good option since it’s sheer and easy to apply. “If you’re going lighter on the eyes then have fun with lip colour and really try something bold in berry or fuschia pink shades and vice versa.”

A Note On Laying The Perfect Foundation:
Select a few colours that are closest to your natural skin tone. Next, apply a couple dots of each color on areas of your jaw line (the best place to test). Take a look near a window under natural light. The right shade is one that you can’t see because it blends in so well.
