Emily Osment Bio and Interview!

Emily Osment Soda Pop Tour at Vervegirl.com

Most of you know Emily Osment from her role as Lily Truscott on Hannah Montana. But you may not know that Emily is also a gifted singer and songwriter. As her album All the Right Wrongs proves, she is a multi-talented artist who has a different side to show the world. We caught up with Emily while she was in Toronto filming her music video “You are the Only One”.

VG: What does the album, All the Right Wrongs, mean to you?
EO: I’ve been working on the album for awhile, and it took about two years to write and put together. I’ve been writing since I was a kid and at that time, I started a binder of songs I wrote. When I decided to do an album, we [producers and collaborators] went through the binder and found we could use some of the material.  So this has been years in the making. Making this record has been so much fun and has allowed me to be the most creative I have ever been in my life.
VG: What’s your favourite song on the album?
EO: Definitely “You are the Only One”. All of my songs were written based on personal experience but this one really sticks out for me. We just filmed a music video for it and it’s a true to life experience about a love interest so the video should be pretty interesting!

VG: Is it coincidence that you, Miley [Cyrus] and Mitchel [Musso] all branched into a singing career?
EO: Yes, it really was. I didn’t write the song that I sang with Mitchel (“If I Didn’t Have You”), and the other work I’ve done for Disney was really separate from my musical career now.
VG: Who and what inspires you?
EO: It’s kind of a funny question because it’s hard not to be inspired by everything every day! As far as music, I’m inspired by Incubus, Beirut, Radiohead, and Alanis Morissette.

Almost Famous
Hannah Montana episode
“When You Wish You Were the Star” because I was playing a character that wasn’t like the usual Lily. The episode was a dream sequence where Lily isn’t a tomboy and becomes popular like Amber and Ashley on the show. It was fun to play this character for a change.
Piece of clothing
I have a pair of comfy brown buckle boots that I wear all of the time!
