Ceilidh Artsby Ceilidh MillarArts embrace the soul. They give the definition of “expression”, a new meaning. Part of growing up is discovering yourself, and the arts allow individuals to experience emotions that are almost surreal. The arts are important to youth because they unlock a new world where you can portray or express anything you desire. This creates individualism and helps shape youth into who they want to become in the future.

The arts not only create a passage into becoming who a person is, they help build a sense of community. Teens can get involved in performing through the school drama program or local community theatre. These are both excellent ways to receive acting training.
I became involved with community theatre through Vancouver Theatrefest. Vancouver Theatrefest produces new and innovative plays at a number of venues in and around Vancouver. The company provides live theatre performances to the public free of charge or by donation. Theatrefest was created to give solo performers and outside theatre companies the opportunity to stage shows affordably. All venues are donated free of charge by the local communities.
It’s a great way to connect with other actors and receive on the job theatre training. Get involved and creatively express yourself through the performing arts!!!
