Career Profile: Executive Director

Wendy Cooper grew up in Unionville, ON. She attended Unionville High Schoo and decided to pursue her major in both Environmental Science and Biology at Trent University where the small classroom sizes allowed her to have a closer relationship with the staff and professors.

In 2003, Wendy stared working for Georgian Bay Land Trust. As the only staff member on site she ran all the programs which ranged from acquisitions or land conservation, budget management, and management of the land. Currently she holds the title as Executive Director and oversees things like partnerships and strategic planning.

What gets Wendy up in the morning? Two things: The landscape in the Eastern and Northern Georgian Bay is one of the most stunning, and the incredible dedicated staff and volunteers.

Wendy’s favourite thing about her job is being able to interact with all the different landowners, and share the same ultimate goal of living in a natural environment for generations to come.
