Behind The Lens with Tyler Medeiros

Behind the Lens with Tyler Medeiros

By Vanessa Dullabh

At 16 years old, Tyler Medeiros is quickly winning the hearts of young girls through his music, irresistible smile and smooth dance moves. It’s no surprise, since his older cousins, Shawn Desman and Danny Fernandes, have conquered our airwaves with their music and talent. Tyler has something special to bring to the table, because he is undoubtedly talented and willing to pursue music as a full-time career. His latest single, “Please Don’t Go,” is the perfect combination of the old and new, taking influences from KC and The Sunshine Band. Born and raised in Toronto, this heartbreaker represents the Canadian pop-music scene in the best way possible and is perfect for our first-ever cover Vervedude!

I hung out with Tyler during his photo shoot to find out what drives his captivating smile…

VERVEGIRL: What is the best part about being Tyler Medeiros?
TYLER MEDEIROS: It has to be all my family members and friends. I have a lot of love around me, and that keeps me happy and grounded.

VG: What is your favourite subject in school?
TYLER: Gym! But since I do online schooling, I don’t get to really have a gym class. To make up for that, I get to do my usual routines – this involves a lot of running around and mainly hanging out with friends.

VG: What and who are QTees?
TYLER: Well, one of my fans asked me to come up with a name for them because some other artists have names for their fans. I was sitting at home thinking, and I came up with “QTees.” It’s a play on the word “cutie” and the letter “T” for my name, Tyler. It became a trending topic on Twitter the same day I came up with it! #QTees

VG: What is the best quality in a girlfriend?
TYLER: She definitely has to be sweet, respectful, fun, loving ,and has to have a good sense of humour. I make a lot of “dumb” jokes because I have a weird sense of humour, and if she doesn’t find them funny, we won’t be able to laugh together.

VG: What is “swag“?
TYLER: Swag is what you wear, and how you wear it. You have to show your personality in what you wear, and when you pull it off, it’s swag.

VG: What would you do if you weren’t able to be an entertainer?
TYLER: I would be a football player! I love track and cross-country, so I’m pretty fast. Tackling is also a bonus because I’m not afraid to get down and dirty.

VG: If you had the chance to work with one artist, dead or alive, who would it be?
TYLER: Hands down, it would be Michael Jackson. There is definitely some of his influence in my own dance moves, fashion and inspiration in my music.
